RESULT OF AVON GROUP 2025 EGM
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL MEMBERS

Regrettably, at the EGM on 18 January 2025, a new committee was not formed to take Avon forward into 2025.
Les Kendrick was at the meeting to represent Council of Management, and with no committee formed and in accordance with the Constitution for Groups, he formally paused the Group. Pausing, rather than full closure, allows a brief window of opportunity for members to come forward, either as a group of friends or individually to form a new committee.
Anyone interested in putting their names forward, or wants more information, should contact the MCC office as soon as possible. A minimum of 6 members will be required. The work is not difficult and the 2024 committee will offer a full handover and support.
If a committee is not formed, COM will make a final decision re closing the group. Les indicated a timescale of up to 3 MONTHS for this to happen. In the meantime we are unable to run rallies and conduct business. All assets and finances are frozen and in the hands of the office.
In the meantime, Avon members will still be listed as such. Should the group ultimately close, members will be allocated to other groups according to postcodes (members are free to change groups at any time, if accepted by the new group), and the financial assets will be distributed with them, pro rata to the new groups.
A full rally programme was prepared for 2025. This will be held in abeyance for a short period in case a new committee is formed quickly. After that, other groups will be invited to take them over, any not taken up will be cancelled. Liaison with other groups is already in hand.
Pausing the group, rather than immediate cancellation, gives Avon time to assimilate this very sad news and hopefully find a way forward. Some interest was expressed by members at the EGM about joining a committee but no actual nominations were submitted. If those people, and a few more, contact the office, then it might be possible to retrieve this dire situation.
